In The Marquee Lights

For performers, having your name up on a marquee is said to be a sign of success. I have been playing live music since 2008 and last weekend I had my band’s name on a marquee for the first time! Sure, it was a marquee in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, but I still call that a win! One of my music groups, The Wildflowers, played at Sleepy Eye Brewing Company in their new listening room. It was such a cool atmosphere and the staff was so kind and helpful. The brewery is in a downtown building that used to be a movie theater, hence the marquee.

This marquee is especially meaningful for me as I had the pleasure of seeing it lit up for the first time while Sleepy Eye Brewing Company was being renovated. If you take a look at the entrance under the marquee, you will see some awesome art deco designs etched into the glass. My husband, Ryan, designed and etched the glass with the same laser we use to make our earrings. The art deco etching on the doors is lit with LED lights, so at night the etching glows. When the marquee was lit for the first time, so were the front doors. It was fun to take our families, sit in the park across the street until dark, and then see the building come to life when it was all lit up! Fast forward a few years, and my band name is glowing in those lights! So cool!
